She is interested in which factors that affect institutionalization and how the trajectory differs between men and women. Another field of interest is how health and social network are related to the oldest old’s daily life and pattern of assistance. The oldest old are a special population from several points of view, and there are many interesting areas to investigate further. In one of her studies she, for example analyzed predictors of survival in this group with interesting results. The area of care at end of life for the oldest is also one of her interests, an area with a great need of research, due to the special situations of the oldest old, with slowly increasing health problems and difficulties to perform daily life activities. She is also interested in special aspects of old age care, such as how to prevent pressure sores, and the organization of different types of care, for example respite care for the elderly.
